I have tasted Scottish Shortbread and found it irresistibly delicious. Although it is traditional New Year’s recipe, my taste buds won’t stay that long without their favorite serving. The preparation varies with the working methods and may take from 20 minutes to 65 minutes to prepare. The key to success lies in knowing how to carefully handle the Dough. It should not be kneaded heavily. I also ensure that the dish I use is cold. This makes it crunchy, and gives a typically buttery taste.
Take 2 and quarter sticks and / 225 gms of butter
A tiny pinch of salt along with 110 gms of sugar and 2 cups of plain flour along with corn starch flour.
I start by pre heating the oven to 325° F, and then I cream sugar and butter together in a large bowl. This can take for about 10 mins until it turns fluffy and pale in color. Then mix the corn flour and together with butter and sugar. Thoroughly mix but don’t be careful not to overdo it. Knead it to quickly form loose dough. Later Roll out the dough on the paper and prick with a fork. Then bake it for 25 minutes until light brown. When ready sprinkle with light sugar. The yummy and lovely bread is ready.

I happened to read the news story of Arkansas which experienced strange phenomenon where many birds fell from sky all over the town. I felt dumbfounded as city officials reported that nearly 3000 birds fell off the sky and crashed to trees, rooftops, cars or some directly hit the ground. I could barely imagine the scene. How horrific it must be for birds as well as people. I was left wondering as to what might have caused it.
Later it came to light that it might be because of the fireworks, because of which all the birds started flying lower to their normal altitude. These red winged Blackbirds have poor eyesight and thus collided with whatever came in their way. The birds flew lower to avoid explosions and the fireworks. I was feeling Raged and annoyed. It felt like sacrificing 3000 birds in order to have temporary fun to welcome the New Year. Such event is really unfortunate where we humans encroach and destroy the local economy. The tests on the majority of the dead birds indicated that they died due to hit and collisions. Although officials have indicated further tests on the dead birds are going to be conducted. I daresay it’s an exercise that is shamefully futile.
